Candidates are eligible for an SSB interview call after successfully qualifying in a written examination like **NDA, CDS, AFCAT**, or through direct entry schemes like **TES (Technical Entry Scheme)** and **TGC (Technical Graduate Course)**.
The age limit is determined by the specific entry scheme for which the candidate has applied (e.g., 16.5-19.5 years for NDA, 19-25 years for CDS-OTA, etc.).
There is no academic syllabus. SSB is a personality and aptitude assessment that evaluates "Officer Like Qualities" (OLQs). The tests are designed to assess the candidate's mind, body, and actions through three major techniques:
The SSB interview is a comprehensive 5-day process:
NA. SSB is a selection process. The salary is awarded after completing training at the respective military academy. As a commissioned officer (Lieutenant, Sub-Lieutenant, or Flying Officer), the starting salary is approximately âš85,000 - âš1,00,000 per month.
NA. The starting post is determined by the entry scheme and training academy. It will be a commissioned officer rank in the Indian Army, Navy, or Air Force.
NA. This is a selection process for officer roles in the Indian Armed Forces.
The SSB interview is the universal and mandatory gateway to becoming a commissioned officer in the Indian Armed Forces. Clearing the SSB is a prestigious achievement that opens the door to a challenging, adventurous, and honorable career dedicated to leading the men and women of the Army, Navy, or Air Force.
Candidates do not apply for the SSB directly. They apply for an officer entry scheme (e.g., NDA, CDS, TGC). If they clear the initial shortlisting or written exam, they are automatically called for the SSB interview.
There is no numerical score given to the candidate. The assessment is holistic and qualitative.
