Eligibility
- For UG-CLAT (5-Year LL.B.): 10+2 or an equivalent examination with a minimum of 45% marks (40% for SC/ST candidates).
- For PG-CLAT (LL.M.): An LL.B. Degree or an equivalent examination with a minimum of 50% marks (45% for SC/ST candidates).
- Candidates appearing in their qualifying examination are also eligible to apply.

đDetailed Syllabus (for UG-CLAT)
The exam is comprehension-based, testing aptitude and reasoning skills rather than prior knowledge.
- English Language: Comprehension of passages, drawing inferences, and understanding vocabulary and arguments in context.
- Current Affairs, including General Knowledge: Reading passages derived from news and non-fiction to understand contemporary events of significance from India and the world.
- Legal Reasoning: Reading passages with legal principles, applying these principles to factual situations. No prior legal knowledge is required.
- Logical Reasoning: Critical reasoning, identifying arguments, premises, and conclusions, and drawing inferences.
- Quantitative Techniques: Interpretation of data presented in graphs, charts, and text. Questions are of Class 10th level.

- Step 1: CLAT Written Examination. This is a single, offline, pen-and-paper (OMR-based) test.
- Step 2: Merit List Declaration. A merit list is prepared based solely on the marks obtained in the CLAT exam.
- Step 3: Centralized Counselling. Candidates who secure a rank participate in a centralized online counselling process for seat allotment to the participating National Law Universities (NLUs).
